THE WIND IS BLOWING

We are encouraged as we hear reports of people coming to faith in Vietnam. It is not wise for us to share all we hear. Some people are coming to faith in difficult circumstances where it is not easy to be identified as a follower of Christ. Others who hold significant political or government positions are coming to faith. The church is growing. The Spirit of God is not limited by circumstances: God's Spirit continues to convict people of their sin and need and to realize that in Christ their needs are met.
Jesus said to Nicodemus long ago:
"The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit." John 3:40, 41
We know the disciples must have been shocked when they saw Jesus engaging a woman; a Samaritan woman in conversation. How much more their shock as first she, then many Samaritans came to faith. They expected to simply travel through Samaria. They had not planned to stay for a two or three day evangelistic and discipleship seminar! (John 4:39 - 41) God's work does not always go according to human planning.
So here in Vietnam, people are coming to faith and growing in maturity; sometimes in unexpected places and in unplanned ways. We are grateful for all who pray for Hanoi and for this country.
